Linus encourages people to switch to KDE. I liked KDE far better than GNOME anyway (but not for the reasons he is mentioning)!

This "users are idiots, and are confused by functionality" mentality of Gnome is a disease. If you think your users are idiots, only idiots will use it. I don't use Gnome, because in striving to be simple, it has long since reached the point where it simply doesn't do what I need it to do.
Please, just tell people to use KDE.

Do read the Follow-ups to the mail too.

But I use GNOME because its more eye candy. :D . Also what i cant do with the apps they provide i do with command lines. GNOME is enough for me , but i have to admit that it is slow and I agree with Linus . I read this post at slashdot earlier and i read both of linus 's mails . He is right. But i still like GNOME. They ought to take Linus comment as a challenge and clean up ... I do not call myself a Techie. I am a poor programmer who gets by . I use linux (Slackware 10.2) at home for its philosophy and of course , it never keeps me in the dark of what it is doing...And i am thinking of switching to FreeBSD :)
