Noticed two folks flaunting their unlocked iPhones at office today. Looked pretty cool. But not sure whether I want to own one!

I felt strongly about the sentence handed out to Sanjay Dutt, and wanted to make a post about it. But Acorn has made a nice post on it with exactly the same points I wanted to convey, but in a much better manner than what i could have done! :)

Google Local for India
In case you haven't checked this out yet, try Google Local for India. For example, this search for restaurants near Banjara Hills, Hyderabad or restaurants near Lavelle Road in Bangalore gives me a list of results for restaurants along with their contact info.

Sivaji
Watched Sivaji. Rajini is brilliant at times, but mostly just an average movie. Interestingly it looks like there has been a great response here in Hyderabad for the Tamil version of the movie (Mostly all the Tamil movies are dubbed into telugu before it reaches Hyderabad). Prasads, where the tamil movie is showing just increased the number of daily shows for the tamil version of the movie from 1 to 2.

This is an interesting idea. Now you can buy O'Reilly e-books one chapter at a time.

Tata Indicom Data Card on Ubuntu
Got my Tata Indicom data (which is basically a Huawei E321) card to work my laptop running Ubuntu Edgy. It was fairly straightforward process, with ubuntu automatically doing most of the work. :)
1. After inserting the card, the modem got detected at /dev/ttyUSB0.
2. Ran
sudo wvdialconfand it setup the default configuration
3. The I edited the /etc/wvdial.conf file to setup the Phone number, Username and password.
Phone = #7774. Now run sudo wvdial R and that's it. After a series of debug messages, you should be connected to the internet.
Password = internet
Username = internet
Now I still need to figure how to get the signal strength of the network Iam in.

What the world eats!
Time has a nice photo gallery on what families across the world eat. They have photos on 15 countries along with their weekly food expenditure, but unfortunately left out India.
