What the heck happened to Bloglines today? Its been down all day long, and i dont even have the backup OPML file. Looks like i should start using a desktop RSS aggregator as well. Any suggestions for a simple and free RSS client?

Look at my review on rss/atom readers for more information on desktop/web-based readers. It's a bit dated, nonetheless still quite applicable.

u can try Abilon its very good .i have been using it for more than a year now .but one problem here is u cant read blogs written in Tamil or Hindi or is that i am not able to get it right.Apart from that its a good one .And its avilable free.
There is rssbandit but its in a beta stage and another option would be sharpreader.
Abilon comes with updates on regular intervals the latest version is 2.5.1

Nice review of the RSS readers. Have you used NewsGator online? It seems to be a bit slow for me though.
